Mooresville Grand Prix

Mooresville Indiana

October  22, 2008

"Many years ago, a very small group of drivers made their way to the 1st annual Mooresville Lions Club Grand Prix, as I recall, the weather was fantastic, the racing was great, and the town loved it. Eight years later and the same held true. It has been an honor to be associated with the Lions over the years, the hard work and dedication to providing us a race track to run on is amazing. The Park Board, The Town, The fans, it is just a one of a kind event. We look forward to making this event bigger and bigger." according to Bill McLaughlin CEO of the Indy Karting Series.

"A champion will push his/her machine to the limits, El Diablo and the Coaster push back, a test of wills, sort of speak"  Kevin Potter Event director for the Series goes on to say "The classes were again all very large, and the racing was unbelievable. In many classes you could not have slide a piece of pager between the bumpers of the top six to eight karts, in fact  I had so many fans come up to me an complement our associates on the show they put on. The mini air show was a huge hit as well, hats off to Mr. Landon."

Mooresville ends the season for the series. Up next is a banquet held  in the shadow of the Indianapolis 500 to honor all its champions and associates. Keep checking the web site for our 2009 Season schedule page for more details

Franklin Grand Prix Street Race

Mooresville Indiana

August 11, 2008

A new event on the IKS schedule proves to be a huge hit. “If year one is any indication of what is to come, the Franklin Boys and Girls Club Grand Prix  will become one of our favorite race site to visit in the years to come. At one point on Saturday it seemed like there where thousands of people lining the streets to watch the races. The movie theater on the course played a classic race movie, and the local restaurants seemed at capacity. The corporate event and Mayors Challenge made for a huge fund raiser all to benefit the Boys and Girls Club of Franklin, and we are honored to be associated with such a great cause”, according to Bill McLaughlin CFO of the Series.

Bill goes on to say “The area provided for the track became a challenge for us right off the bat, small and narrow ‘T’ shaped. With our years of experience in course design and safety a perfect track was put to gather for Sunday’s race. Street racing is what we do best; the safety record from this event should speak volumes about what we can do with limited space. Next years plans for moving the site to include several city blocks is already in the works”

Warrior Grand Prix 2008

Mooresville Indiana

July 28, 2008

The welcome was great, the weather was perfect, and the action on the track was intense as the Lucas Oils Indy Karting Series moves back into Southern Indiana. The weekend ended with a lot of controversy over tech issues, but even this could not over shadow the great time had by all. “Saturday night was a hoot, first a perfect BBQ was held at track side, (several attempts had been made in past years (see last years press release)) a county fair was going on and then a large water fight broke out at the hotel most where most of our associates stayed. A real testimonial to the family environment of an IKS event.” According to Dean Mack CEO

Dean goes on to say “We owe a great thank you to Joe and Kim King, without them this race would never take place. North Knox High School, the benefactor of this event, always makes us feel right at home, from allowing the football team help out  to giving us a few of those sugar baby watermelons each year. Just a class act from a great bunch of people.”

Shoppes at Seymour Grand Prix

Mooresville Indiana

June 16, 2008

The racing at Seymour was so hot part of the track caught on fire. Great Racing, Fine Shopping, Great Food and You made for a very memorable event.

“The weather everywhere but in Seymour has just awful, our hearts go out to all of our associates, friends and neighbors that are effected by the Flood of 08. As we started practice on Saturday we started to get the bad news, by late morning we could see and smell the rain but had no idea of the damage until they shut down I 65. It was just incredible to see all the damage on the news Saturday Night.” according to Dean Mack CEO of the Series.

Dean goes on to say “For the first time in Seymour we could not be happier, the racing was great, the Corporate Event went along very fast, and we left on a positive note, well if you do not count the visit from the fire truck. It would seem as a carless smoker and the winds would necessitate a 911 call as we lost 10 bales of hay to the fire”.

Seymour Grand Prix Update

Mooresville Indiana

June 4, 2008

"As the Seymour Grand Prix nears we are looking forward to a large crowd and parking will be at a premium. We will need everyone's help and patients to put on a great show for the Shoppes at Seymour. Lets not forget that we are our best advertising, not only showcasing our driving talents but showcasing our sportsmanship on and more importantly off the track. It is no secrete that karting numbers our down across the country yet our numbers are up. I feel they are up because we are more than a karting series we are more like a family, somewhat dysfunctional at times (lol) but none the less a family. Lets keep this up as we head towards Seymour." according to Dean Mack CEO of the Indy Karting Series.

The Seymour Grand Prix will be the third stop of the Lucas Oil Indy Karting Series. A Pro Race will take place at Whiteland Raceway Park during round four of the series later this month. Stay Tuned.

May 23, 2008

With the no parking order issued the day before we arrived we expected ciaos, but it all worked out perfectly. ” according to Kevin Potter, Race Director.

The park was transformed in to a very nice looking race track early Saturday morning. “We used the plastic barriers instead of straw this year as a test. With a cold and rainy front moving thru on race weekend and raising fuel cost the start of the series seemed like it was going to be a repeat start of the 2006 season. “I woke up Saturday morning walked out side and got the shock of my life, I could see my breath, went back inside, turned the TV on and the weatherman is talking about rain and more rain” according to Kevin Potter, Race Director of the Series. Kevin goes on to say “If you don’t like Indiana weather wait a minute and it will change”. And change it did. On race day the sun was out and not a cloud in the sky.
