Fast Racing at the Mooresville Grand Prix

Mooresville, Indiana

“Just an incredible weekend all the way around. We had great weather, a fantastic crowd on hand, and unbelievable action on the track. To say the weekend was a success is the understatement of the year. What a way to cap off this season! This event is so important to the Lions Club, and because of the great turnout, they exceeded all goals for this year.

We have been very blessed to have the best come race with us. If you look at the results, it reads like a ‘Who’s Who’ of the karting world. AJ Codalata won two classes in a five and six kart train at the flag. The TaG race was just off the hook. Jamie Farrell closely won over Conor Daly as they four-wheel drifted out of turn four to cross the line. The F200 race was just a blast to watch as Adam Woodward took the checkered flag. ICC standout, Tim Hollowell, learned just last week that he won a scholarship with the Formula BMW series. We have never wished to be the biggest, just the best. With the last race of our series now over, I think we have accomplished just that” according to Bill McLaughlin, CFO of the Indy Karting Series.

Bill goes on to say “I saw a lot of old faces this weekend, along with a very large group of new faces. It is my hope that all of the series running in the Midwest can coexist. Street racing requires a great deal of concentration, but once you have experienced it, there is no other sensation like it in the world. We gave out a Life Time Achievement Award to my long time friend Harry Alkire over the weekend. If your new to karting just ask around, Harry has and will always be a fixture in karting. My prayers and thoughts go out to you my friend.  (see the forum for more details)”

Update: Chase Jones has a broken arm but is doing fine. He is already looking forward to getting back in the kart.

Incredible weekend. We want to congratulate the following drivers for mastering “Street Racing 101”:

Rain Tries To Dampen Spirits At Linton

Linton, Indiana

What’s up with this weather? As the Indy Karting Series descended into Linton’s Humphreys Park, so did the rain. “We arrived late Friday to find a very soaked race track. It looked as though Linton had gotten several inches of rain. As I checked the IKS weather computer early Saturday, we thought we had a very small window to work with early on but by the time we arranged to have a street sweeper begin to dry off the track, in came the rain again. By 3:00 p.m. we elected to call off qualifying and started the grills. Pulled pork sandwiches, BBQ ribs, brats, baked beans, corn on the cob, potato salad, desserts and some killer brownies were all on the menu as we took to telling stories and playing poker (JUST FOR FUN).” according to Kevin Potter, Indy Karting Series, Event Director.

Update: Corey Gregory is okay, he is already looking forward to Mooresville. FYI Corey, chicks love scars.

All in all a great weekend. We want to congratulate the following drivers for mastering “Almost Soaked Again 101”:

Linton, Indiana

Its pitch in time at Linton Saturday September 23rd. IKS will supply the main course, they are asking their associates and friends to bring a covered dish and drinks. North Knox "Warrior" Grand Prix Update

Bicknell, Indiana

"Wow, did we feel at home, it was just the best weekend we have had this month. The turn out was just larger than we expected for this new and late arrival to our schedule. All new sites either have that wow factor or not, North Knox has boat loads to spare. I had the local town Marshall driving one of the I-Rock karts every chance he could, we even had the EMS workers taking laps. We used 1/3 of the space available to us, next year look for a much, much bigger course layout. I would like to thank Kim and Joe King for all the hard work they put into this race site. I saw some old faces show up this weekend, Rich Eisgruber, Jason Birdsell, Kevin Carter and Bobby Cummings just to name a few, welcome home. We all do this for the love of the sport, and hopefully everyone see this by now." according to Dean Mack CEO of the Indy Karting Series.

"One of things I hear our associates say time and time again is ‘I just have a good time at your races, there is no drama, no stress, just a real friendly environment’ and I think its that chemistry that explains our growth in the temporary course market. We are in high gear now for next year, expect to see yet another level of professionalism from the Indy Karting Series.". Bill Mclaughlin goes on to say, "We are right on course with our three year plan and on behalf of the Indy Karting Series, we thank each of you that have chosen to race with us".

Congratulations go out to Jason Burgess from Team OMG on his first I-ROCK race win.

Fantastic weekend. We want to congratulate the following drivers for mastering Fast and Tight Racing 101:

Clinton "Little Italy Grand Prix" Has Been Cancelled

Clinton, Indiana

Mayor Ron Shepard gave notice today that due to the resurfacing project in downtown Clinton the 2006 Little Italy Grand Prix has been cancelled and rescheduled for the same weekend in August 2007.

“We knew going in that this could happen. The City of Clinton has been trying to have the streets resurfaced for years and the State has been slow in completing the project once they got started. We have been anxiously awaiting news on the completion of the resurfacing project for weeks but can now focus on this site for 2007.” according to Dean Mack, CEO, Indy Karting Series. Dean goes on to say, “We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused our Associates and the karting community. We look forward to the return of this event in 2007.”

The Indy Karting Series’ next event will be the North Knox High School Grand Prix held in Bicknell, Indiana on August 19 and 20, 2006. This event is a fundraiser for the Athletic Boosters. School will be in session, so we expect a very large fan turnout. Please plan to attend.

Indy Karting Series Heats Up Whiteland Raceway Park

Great Action - Hot Weather - IKS serves up another winner.

Indy Karting Series brought its own version of heat to the famous Whiteland Raceway Park on Sunday, July 30, 2006. With a heat index of over 100 degrees, the packed facility made for some hot racing over the weekend. “We had a great turnout. Not a drop of rain that by contrast is very different from the past rain-soaked events we have hosted. The ontrack racing was once again first rate, with several races contested down to the last lap and last corner. I look at the racers running this Series and the amount of national level players is just amazing. This just proves the point that running with the best will bring out the best in you. Great job to all.” according to Dean Mack, CEO, Indy Karting Series.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Al Verbish and his family on the passing of his father last week. Take a moment to include him in your thoughts.

Indy Karting Series has upgraded its Corporate Fleet of rental karts and debuted them this week. “The primary use of these karts is for our Corporate Program. The chasses are Birel N-35X or Rock Karts. These chasses are state-of-the-art technology, very fast and actually perform like a real race chassis. We took them to Whiteland Raceway Park and started our own “international race of champions” series this weekend. Gary Monnett, Tim Butler, Justin Bruce and Steve Schiewer all took part in our first I-ROCK race. Fast time was set by Gary Monnett. Unfortunately, we inverted the field placing him in the rear. As the field took the green, they went 4 wide into turn one. Steve Schiewer made a pass from last place into the lead and never looked back. Congratulations go out to Steve Schiewer on his and our first I-ROCK race win.” stated Bill McLaughlin of the Indy Karting Series. Mr. McLaughlin goes on to say, “we intend to include this I-ROCK race at the rest of our events, drawing other drivers to participate”.

All in all, a great weekend. We want to congratulate the following drivers for mastering Hot and Sweaty Racing 101:

ICC Shifter – Tim Hollowell; Unlimited – William Rollins; Briggs, Jr. – Bill McLaughlin, Jr.; 2/4 Cycle Jr. Sportsman – Tyler Pittman/Nick Aue; Yamaha Jr. Super Can – Logan Harris; Briggs Animal Sr. – Garritt Powell; Briggs Masters – Joe King; F200 – Blake Deister; Yamaha SSX Heavy – Jason Burgess; Yamaha SSX Masters – William Evans; Yamaha SSX Medium – Gary Monnett; TaG Sr. – Jamie Farrell; TaG Jr. – Bill McLaughlin, Jr.; and in Yamaha Pipe – Colton Aldridge. Kid Kart and Junior 1 Winners - Lincoln Baldwin, Austin Oaming, Abby Mclaughlin, Addison Lollar, Courtney Innis, Kolten Johnson, Charles Dixon, Jackson Mears, Austin Pittman, Tyler Pitman, Tyler Kearns, Nick Aue, Sam Sobczak, Matt Long, Ryan Long.

Indy Karting Series To Open Tire Rule

Series to allow other tire manufactures to compete.

Mooresville, Indiana

"We feel that the decision to open up our tire rule will only help the Series.  Starting at our next event, we will allow the following tire manufacturers and compounds:  Bridgestone YHC; Dunlop SL4; Burris M30, MG Orange; Maxxis SLD, and Vega Blue.  We have had numerous requests to open the rule from some of our associates. With the cost of fuel and travel going up, we feel this is one way we can help the racing community.  It just makes sense in the long run to allow other series or clubs not using Bridgestone to race with us." according to Bill McLaughlin, CFO Indy Karting Series.  Bill goes on to say, "I think we are the first series to allow this cross pollination of tire manufacturers in our area."

Please review our rules for further updates, questions or concerns please address Dean Mack CEO.

Whiteland Raceway Park Host IKS Race 3

Indy Karting Series moves race number 3 to Whiteland Raceway Park.

Whiteland, Indiana

The Indy Karting Series moves the July 29 and 30, 2006 race from Track Attack to Whiteland Raceway Park, in Whiteland, Indiana.

Due to a scheduling conflict at Track Attack with IKS and a very large corporate event connected with the U.S. Armed Forces, we are moving to a new venue. “When we learned what it was for, we gladly gave up our date. We have been blessed with opportunities from different race sites and organizations not only for this year, but so many for next season. All we need do is make a phone call and we are up and racing again. I want to thank Jeff Pitman and his employees for all of their efforts making IKS feel at home while we were at Track Attack.” according to Kevin Potter, Event Director for IKS.

July 30, 2006 will be the race date at Whiteland Raceway Park. Visit our “Schedule” page for an entry/information form for all the details. NOTE: This is a one day only event, no Saturday activities connected with IKS.

Built in 1958 on 9 acres south of Indianapolis, Whiteland Raceway Park has served as a springboard for drivers who now race in the IRL, NASCAR, USAC and the SCCA. Now you can experience the same thrill of driving a real racing kart on a real racetrack. Race on the very same track that John Andretti, Tony Stewart, Kenny Irwin and Mark Dismore competed on early in their careers.

Kevin Potter goes on to say, “Most of us in the Indy Karting Series grew up on this track. We all have great stories and fond memories of Whiteland. We are looking forward to our return to this historic track. We want to thank Gary Lee, his staff, and the Chain Breakers Kart Club for allowing the Indy Karting Series to host an event at this track. We hope to see all the members of Chain Breakers Kart Club racing with us on Sunday.”

Keep checking back for additional information.

Round Two At Track Attack.

Indy Karting Series weathers another storm.

Indianapolis, Indiana

The action on the track this weekend was unbelievable.

"The way the weekend started out even had me worried. We arrived to setup only to find that a racecar had blown an engine right before we arrived placing oil on the entire track. It took 13 bags of oil dry and two hours to get the track in shape. On behalf of the management of IKS I want to thank everyone for understanding about the delay on Saturday. Once we got going it went great, we moved qualifying up because of the threat of rain and at about the time we had planned on qualifying it hit, and man did it hit" according to Kevin Potter, Event Director. Kevin goes on to say "We had several new associates this weekend and the Series is going strong. As we have said before, we do not want to be the biggest just the best, and I think we are living up to that each time we present the Series to the karting community".

The TaG Pro race was just great. It was the closest finish ever, less than .048 of a second. "With a purse valued at over $2,000.00 in cash and prizes, it was the cleanest racing we have ever seen in such a large class. I asked all of our corner workers just after the checked flag dropped if we had any driving infractions to worry about. CLEAN RACING was the answer." according to Dean Mack, CEO of the Series.

Congrats along with $750.00 in cash and a Track Attack Driving Experience goes to Jamie Ferrell. John Dixon takes home $350.00 in cash for second place. $225.00 in cash went to Clay Maddox; and newcomer, Rafael Cordaro, takes home $125.00 in cash on his first ever pro race. Richard Hale takes home a fifth place and $75.00 in cash. IKS wishes to thank one of its title sponsors, BRIDGESTONE, for its support. All entrants were on YHC's and the tire was just incredible in light of the extreme heat Saturday and the punishment a TaG places on the tire, most looked like new when they rolled across the scale.

HARRIS reports - "Flip Me Over I Am Done Kevin" other than an attempt to get yet another chassis is OK. "Fence Inspector Logan" while adding the wow factor to the incredible young drivers we have in the Series is also OK.

All in all, a great weekend. We want to congratulate the following drivers for mastering Mixed Rain/Heat Racing 101:

ICC Shifter - Scott Miller; Unlimited - Joseph Jacks; Briggs Jr.- Logan King; 2/4 Cycle Jr. Sportsman - Nick Aue; Yamaha Jr. Super Can - Elizabeth Runyan; Briggs Animal Sr. - Adam Woodward; Briggs Masters - Joe King; F200 - Blake Deister; Yamaha SSX Heavy - William Evans; Yamaha SSX Masters - John Dixon; Yamaha SSX Medium - Blake Deister; TaG Sr. - Jamie Farrell; TaG Jr. - Logan Harris; and in Yamaha Pipe - Colton Aldrige.

North Knox High School "Warrior" Grand Prix.

Indy Karting Series adds a new race site

Indianapolis, Indiana

The Indy Karting Series is proud to present to the karting community, the first annual “Warrior Grand Prix”. This race site will take the place of our scheduled Spencer Exchange Club race due to scheduling conflicts with the high school.

According to Joe King, an IKS Associate who was instrumental in acquiring this site, “It’s a win-win for all involved. The Athletic Boosters were looking for a better way to make money than the old candy sales, and IKS was looking for a new race venue”.

“We had planned on using this race as one of our stand-alone sites, but due to the conflict the Exchange Club was faced with, we simply switched the site out. The Exchange Club race will be moved to a stand-alone event at a date to be announced.” stated Kevin Potter, Event Director for IKS.

Keep checking back for details.

Spencer Exchange Club Grand Prix - On Ice.

Problems cause a delay in race

Indianapolis, Indiana

Due to a scheduling conflict with the site, this race will be postponed and will become a stand-alone event. “It is unfortunate that this happened, but we are still pleased that the Exchange Club will be on board for next year should the conflict not be resolved. If you have ever been part of a race committee, you would understand the vast problems that come up from time to time. This problem could not have been avoided by either party.” according to William McLaughlin, CFO of the Indy Karting Series L.L.C.

Sertoma Club / Indy Karting Series Mayors Cup

Indy Karting Series is proud to be associated with the Anderson Sertoma Club and the Mayors Cup Grand Prix. Once again, this event, one of the best in the country, had over 150 entries and perfect weather. We want to thank all the IKS Associates who attended this co-hosted event. Bonus points will be added to your year-end points totals.

Inaugural IKS Series Opener

Indianapolis Indiana, May 1, 2006

The season kicked off with a bang of sorts, thunder and rain attempted to dampen the spirits of the racers but to no avail. "We had water 1 inch deep on the straightaway in some spots. It rained the whole weekend, but everyone still had a great time." according to Kevin Potter Race Site Support Manager.

Over ninety pre-entries for the weekend, but due to the weather, most elected to forgo the downpour. Of the brave souls that took to the track, the racing was great. TaG was the largest field and the racing was fantastic. We had several of the 'Stars of Tomorrow' racers in attendance. Jamie Farrell drove a fantastic race in the monsoon to win; Tim Hollowell can home with the win in the ICC race.

We want to build on this and make the next event even better, "We made a lot of mistakes this first time out, most people did not notice them, but I know they were there. One example, we built this great FM/PA system and never gave weather conditions a thought. Consequently the Disc Player shorted out and damaged the FM transmitter.  Both have been repaired or replaced and are now ready for any type of weather. If you have suggestions please feel free to contact anyone connected to this series. We do not want to be the biggest just the best." stated William Mclaughlin.

All and all a great weekend; We want to congratulate the following drivers for mastering Heavy Rain Racing 101:

ICC Shifter - Tim Hollowell, Unlimited - Joseph Jacks, Briggs Jr. - Nick Aue, 2/4 Cycle Jr. Sportsman Madison Woodward, Yamaha Jr. Super Can - Bill McLaughlin Jr., Briggs Animal Sr. - Andrew Hollingsworth, Briggs Masters - Joe King, F200 - Joe King, Yamaha SSX Heavy - Kevin Bust, Yamaha SSX Masters - Butch Tillotta, Yamaha SSX Medium - Blake Deister, TaG Sr. - Jamie Farrell, TaG Jr. - Bill Mclaughlin Jr. and in Yamaha Pipe - Mike Borgerding.
