Mooresville Indian
Spetember25 2007 The new Indy Karting Series redesigned web site will be up and running very shortly. “The new site will be on a Unix platform which allows more graphic design work to be done. With the growth the series is having, we felt the original web site needed to be overhauled, and although a long way from our goal, we are taking the first steps today.” according to Bill McLaughlin CFO Indy Karting Series. Bill goes on to say “while this conversion takes place our web site will be up and down at times, I am told at best a two hour down time and at worst a 8 to10 hour outage. This is necessary and can not be avoided. We hope everyone will understand. If you need information off the web site please download it today or call 317-834-2174 for assistance. We wish to thank our associates, sponsors, organizations, and fellow racers for a most excellent year.”

“This is the second year the Lucas Oil
Indy Karting Series has been putting this race on and I swear there were
one hundred farmers cheering for us as we pulled into town. It rained so
hard at times our crash pillows were drifting away, now I know the
farmers needed the rain, but seriously they have got to find another
good luck charm.” laughingly according to Dean Mack CEO of the Series.
Over 120 entries turned out to challenge
the course at Humphreys Park, a favorite stop for the Karting Series. A
catered/pitch in was held after practice on Saturday for all those in
attendance. Dean goes on to say “I am told that some of our brave
associates that elected to say out late found a new use for plastic
cups.”

Warrior Grand Prix
July 16, 2007 “The Warrior Grand Prix was a huge success” according to Kevin Potter, Race Director for the Series. Kevin goes on to say, “This location is fast becoming a race favorite of all that attend, it is so beautiful and peaceful, just incredible. You can look out on the horizon for miles. This year the track was twice the size, we had a great turnout of racers and the racing was tight from start to finish. Joe and Kim King do a fantastic job getting this site ready for us to race. On behalf of the entire Series, I want to thank them for all their hard work.” The Pro Can Race winner Steve Schiewer took home 500 in cash. The purse was set at 1000 dollars and paid back 3 places. Bill McLaughlin CFO goes on to say “We intended to have a BBQ after Saturdays practice and qualifying but after if was left to Kevin Potter and I to grille the 100 pounds of ribs things got a little out of hand, first off the 1 ton grille flipped over, the fire was so hot it vaporized 80 pounds of ribs the moment we placed them on the grates, and after we got the few good ribs off the grille we ran out of BBQ sauce. So the BBQ turned out to be a corn on the cob fest. It still was a lot of fun” The Lucas Oil Indy Karting Series moves on to the streets of Clinton. Please plan on attending this long-awaited venue. “The streets have been paved, the town is very excited to have karting back, and we expect a huge turnout for this race. This site will be a perfect testing opportunity for those racers attending the RIGP. We look forward to seeing you soon,” according to Dean Mack, CEO of the Series. Whiteland Grand Prix Gets Wet
June 27, 2007 As the racers descended into Whiteland for the third round of the Lucas Oil Indy Karting Series, so did the nasty weather. What started out as a damp morning causing the Chain Breaker Kart Club to cancel its scheduled morning race, started to look up for IKS racers as they prepared for a night race under the lights. The sun came out, dried the track and practice and qualifying ran without a hitch. As it came closer to race time, so did the storm. “We were able to get quite a few classes in under dry or very light rain conditions, but as the night drew on the rain never stopped. Racing under the lights even in a downpour was fun, we finished up at 12:30 a.m.” according to Kevin Potter, Race Director for the Series. The 50 Lap Old School
Race was won by John Dixon collecting a cool $1,000.00 for
his efforts. Mike Larrison takes home $300 for
second and $200 went to
Kevin goes on to say “We held a kid kart class for all 16 young boys and girls that race with us. The idea was to make them and their parents feel more comfortable in karting, as well as some on track instruction. The future of karting is in the hands of these kids, we need to keep as many of them in the sport as possible. A big thank you goes out to the group from MKP for putting this on for us. If you look at the national caliber drivers that come out of the Motorama Kart Part shop, its speaks volumes for the level of coaching and tuning that is available to interested karters. Give them a call.”

Old School Race
June 20, 2007
Saturday night
in celebration of Whiteland Raceway Park's 50-year
anniversary, Indy Karting Series will host a Pro Race on the original
track. “We have a $1,500 purse
which will pay the winner a cool grand, second place will pocket $300,
and third goes home with $200.
Racing under the lights as we did years ago on the original track
will be loads of fun. This race
will be in addition to our normal class structure and will require you to
enter one amateur class. We will use the Yamaha Sr Heavy can weight, have
1 practice round, and go right into
qualifying for this race. We expect
a large turnout for this event. A
predetermined amount will transfer into the main and the balance will run
LCQ’s to fill the field. We will
limit the main to 25 karts due to the size of the original track. I
encourage all you old timers to stop out and help us celebrate this historic
event.” according to Dean Mack, CEO
of the Indy Karting Series.
Additional details will be posted on the Forum
Page.

Now, karters have their chance…The Lucas Oil Indy Karting Series is proud to announce a new event on the streets of Speedway, IN: “The Main Street Grand Prix of Speedway”. The inaugural race is set for August 25-26, 2007. “ Racing in the shadow of IMS will be incredible,” states IKS’s CFO Bill McLaughlin. “Looking through your visor seeing the Speedway and thinking about all the history of motor racing that’s been made there will be very inspiring for drivers.” “We’ve been working real hard with Speedway town officials to make this race a reality. I truly believe the location alone will give it the potential to become one of the biggest races in karting,” continued McLaughlin. Course details, sponsors, and schedules are still being determined. However, a majority of the circuit will be on the historic Main Street of Speedway which over the years has been home to a number of race shops and apartments of legendary drivers at the Brickyard. The class structure will be per Indy Karting Series guidelines, with the possibility of an additional class or two per karter’s demands. Pro (money) races will be determined shortly too. All updates will be posted on www.indykartingseries.com, and forwarded to all the appropriate karting media. Lucas Oil has recently come aboard the title sponsor for the Indy Karting Series, and Lucas founder, Forrest Lucas has expressed a personal interest in visiting the Speedway Grand Prix. “We’d be honored to have Mr. Lucas at the event,” states McLaughlin, “Lucas Oil has been a great supporter of local and regional motorsports, and we’re very excited about some of the opportunities we have arising in the IKS for our associates and families thanks to our partnership with Lucas Oil.” Since 1911, only 77 men have ever won a race in the town limits of Speedway, Indiana. Don’t miss your opportunity to add your name to the likes of Foyt, Unser, Andretti, Schumacher, Gordon, and Earnhardt… For more information on the Lucas Oil Indy Karting Series and the “Main Street Grand Prix of Speedway” contact the IKS at: +1.317.834.2174 or visit www.indykartingseries.comWhiteland Under The Lights

Lucas Oil Title Sponsor of the Indy Karting Series LLCMooresville, Indiana. May 21, 2007 In a remarkable gesture of support, Lucas Oil has entered in to a multi-year agreement with the Indy Karting Series to promote karting. Lucas is also one of the fastest growing additive lines in the consumer automotive industry. A premium line of oils, greases and problem-solving additives has helped to firmly establish Lucas as a prominent figure in this marketplace. Lucas has long been directly involved in the American racing industry through multiple vehicle sponsorships and racing event promotions at all levels. called the grass roots of motorsports.
We understand this better than anyone.
If you look at some of the current drivers in all forms of major motorsports,
the majority came up from Karting.
The series provides a more refined structure with a very helpful environment
in which to foster karting on a new level.
I get asked all the time what makes us different from other groups.
It quite simply is our commitment to the sport and now with the help
of Lucas Oil that commitment just got a

Harry Alkire / Brazil Grand PrixMooresville, Indiana May 21, 2007 It was a perfect day fitting of a perfect icon of the sport. Forest park was the site of the Harry Alkire Memorial Grand Prix May 20th. The turn out was great as many who attended quietly reflected on a lost friend, or a past competitor. While the sport is better for all the hard work Harry gave it, it is just a little empty with his passing. We will never forget. A good group of Briggs drivers showed up to run the local option class with a cash pay out to the winner. "All classes provided some great racing for the locals that came out to watch. The fan base seems to get bigger with each event weekend, the park was in fantastic shape.” according to Kevin Potter, Director of Events. Dean Mack goes on to say "We are very pleased with the level of support the town of Brazil has shown us, they went over and above what was necessary to insure our event was a huge success. We are already planning next years event with some special surprises for our associates." Lots of old faces and some very refreshing new ones. Every event we have, I just cannot get over the family environment of this series. Lafayette Square Grand PrixMooresville, Indiana The 1st annual Lafayette Square Grand Prix is presented by the Diabetes Youth Foundation. The race will take place April 28, 29, 2007. "We are very pleased to be associated with the Diabetes Youth Foundation. We expect this site to generate a huge turnout just based on its location. Indy Karting Series is always searching for new and exciting sites to race on and this will be one of the best." according to Bill McLaughlin CFO. Information on the Diabetes Youth Foundation: Since 1989, the Diabetes Youth Foundation of Indiana (DYF) has been educating, supporting, encouraging and entertaining children with Type I diabetes and their families. The DYF’s cornerstone program is our residential camp. Every summer, children ages 7-15 from throughout Indiana, swim, hike, explore creeks, and climb high ropes just like any other boy or girl at camp. They also poke, prick, test, count carbohydrates and learn what they need to do to live a vibrant, healthy life with diabetes. Camp provides a unique chance for these children to meet others facing the same problems in a "support group" like atmosphere. The DYF provides a full camp program that involves athletic and social activities. The only difference is that a huge volunteer staff of physicians, nurses and dietitians are closely involved with the day-to-day activities of the campers to ensure their medical well-being. This relaxed, informal and peer-supported situation is ideal for teaching diabetes management techniques. Besides our residential camp, the DYF also provides several family camp weekends throughout the year. These mini retreats offer families with younger children an opportunity to “try out” camp. For older children with diabetes, the DYF offers a Counselor In Training (CIT) program and an adventure teen program. The Diabetes Youth Foundation is not affiliated with any national organization nor do we receive any funding from United Way. The not-for-profit organization is run solely on donations and grants. Please look for more information to follow.
